What’s in a Name?
Names are important. In the Bible they are more than identifying markers, they convey meaning. God changed Abram’s name to Abraham because he promised that he would become “the Father of many peoples.” He called the name of his Son “Jesus” (which means “Yahweh is salvation”) saying “He shall save his people from their sins.”
Our name “Redemption Orthodox Presbyterian Church” may seem clunky, and if there were an award for the most syllables we may well win, but each word conveys important meaning about who we are as a church family.
